Due to ageing, gravity, and genetic factors, upper and lower eyelids may go through some alterations that make people look older, sleepier, and more tired. Though, looks always play an important role in every aspect of life. Nobody wants to look tired and sleepy to other people whomever they might be. These alterations on eyelids are bags caused by excess muscles and skins, and herniation of fat tissues. Sometimes these alterations emerge altogether, while sometimes there are only bags and excess skins. Sometimes, excess skins accumulate into a mass that affect on vision scope. Depending on the patient’s condition, only upper lids, only lower lids, or both upper and lower lids can be operated.
The operation takes about 1-1.5 hours. It is possible to return home within the same day. The type of anesthesia might be local, sedation, and general. The upper lid incision is made on the natural fold here. Therefore, the mark remains after the surgery is minimal. Classic lower lid incision is made right under eyelashes. This incision can also be done inside the eyelid if the patient is appropriate (Transconjunctival). Bruises emerging after the surgery disappear in week after the surgery. Stitches are removed on the 4th or 5th day. Swellings disappear within a month. The patient can have more youthful and robust looks after the surgery. The results can be more long-lasting and satisfying when eyelid surgery is done together with eyebrow lifting operation.
